TRANSLATION AND POST ENTIRELY DONE BY osakaromanesque TAKEN FROM THE COMMUNITY matsurinoato at THIS LJ POST.

2007.06.07 - I'm sorry, Oya-san

Oya-san and I were in the same class up till 4th grade.
She was a rich man's daughter.
From a good breed.
What's more, she has 3 sisters, and all three of them are beautiful.
They were all slim, dressed up well, smart and knew how to play violin.
In 5th grade, I liked that kind of girl.
But then in 6th grade, a girl named O-tsuka transferred [to the school] (it's not like I got together with her or anything, it was just a feeling)

On the Valentine's Day in 5th grade, up till this day, I think I did something inexcuseable.

During that time, she sat right next to me.
I said "yes!" to myself.
It was doki doki everyday.
Nevertheless, we talked, we discussed about school subjects, and gradually we got along just fine.
Just before Valentine's, she asked me "do you like chocolates?"
At that time, I wondered if I was going to receive some.

Then, the day came. Valentine's Day.
I came to school like I usually do and Oya-san came to school early like she always did.
"Morning!" I said, and pretended to sit down calmly.
We start a casual conversation.
But somehow, I sensed that she was talking rather awkwardly.
"Ah, this is for sure~"
That's what it seemed like.....

"There's something in the desk." (T/N: he used the word toolbox instead of desk ROFL)

...yes!!!! Score !!!!

I was already celebrating.
Excitedly celebrating.
"Now, the chocolates..."

Eh....?

Eh....?

...What does one do when one stumbles upon an opportunity like this...?

Eh~...?

..and because of that, even now, my overly weak character shows itself.

I couldn't open the desk....

"Eh~ Maybe there is~"
While saying stuff like that, I had not thought of any way at all of what to say when to bring up the subject of discovering the chocolates in a nonchalant manner.
Anyway, I took the chance to attack Oya-san and when I rushed and took a look inside the desk...

I didn't notice the disadvantages of my actions....

That's wrong isn't it! Me! An idiot !!!!

I REALLY wanted to see... a wrapping with a cute red ribbon.

After that, right....All hopes were lost.
Those sweet chocolates were nothing but a distant [hope]
After that, I chose the option of saying "it feels a little too artificial, but I didn't open the desk at all" in the most pathetic manner.
Plus, Oya-san seemed pretty impatient.

"Maybe it would have been better if you'd looked into the desk just once?"

And that's what she said.
And then I...

"Okay. Later alright?"

IT SHOULDN'T BE "later alright?" !!!! YOU IDIOT !!!!!

Even so, I kept my cool, and didn't open it.
I wondered how much longer this exchange went on.
In class, Oya-san kept hinting for me to open it.
I avoided all of it.
"Are you avoiding it like an evading ninja?!"
I don't get it.
Finally, Oya-san got pissed off.

...She didn't talk to me.

But still, I put up with it.
I've decided.
When homeroom finishes, I'll pretend to open it.
So, during that awkward lunchtime and cleaning time, I did my best to bear with it.

Then, it came. Homeroom.
Nothing the teacher said was getting into my head.
I was simulating the reaction I should make when I discover what's inside the desk.
I'll take my pencil case out of the desk → Discover the chocolates → "Uwa, what's this~" → LOVE
Perfect.
Oya-san glanced to the right... listening closely to what the teacher was saying.
"Wait, that kitten!!!"
Secretly I hoped restlessly. Francoise (T/N: Koi-chan did a pun. the SFX for restless is sowa sowa [ソワソワ]. He kept repeating it about four times and then finall said フランソワ. I thought about what it could be and said it out loud and..... it was Francoise. LAME, Koi-chan LAAAAAAAAME)

Finally, the teacher's long lecture ended.

Whatever, tell us what to do, just get it over with.

Go home with a classmate.

Oya-san was still putting away her things into her bag.

I watched her form as she puts her things in[to her bag]

I opened it.

The desk has a new name, (I made it up myself) Pandora's box.

Paka! (T/N: this is a SFX for a box opening)

............. eh~~"

None.

There was no chocolate.

My... Love...

THERE WEREN'T ANY CHOCOLATES!!!!!!!!!!!

Why?! Eh, why?!!!
I went into a near-death panicked state.
Then I realized.

It was time to withdraw.

Uwaa..... complete failure.
My chocolates...
Gone were my sweet future.

But I couldn't help but feel troubled by it.
I gave up.
There isn't any [hope]
Am I not a ninja, the one who evades?
Can I not endure it? (T/N: at this point he plays on the words. Hagurake Ninja ja nai = Hagu nin ja nai)
Is this the basis of "giving up ninja arts"?

Oya-san was doing something the teacher told her to.
With a tragic glance I saw her off, I left the classroom.
"I don't want to fall in love anymore"

Then....

"Koi-chaaaaaan!!"

I turned around....

It's A-miya
At that time, he was the classmate I go home with.
He waved at me enthusiastically from the other end of the corridor.
He approached me...

"Koi-chan, did you get any chocolates?!!"

"I didn't...."

I couldn't help but feel irritated with A-miya's high-pitched voice.
I couldn't help but feel irritated with people's smiles.
He let loose with a particularly shocking sentence, and in that instant, I thought time had come to a stop.

"I got chocolates from O-ya! With a letter too!"

....A-miya

....go die.

I tried hard to restrain [my anger], I listened to what he says.
Apparently he got it between the 6th period homeroom and going home time.

"She acted a little strange though when she come to hand it over, she was a little embarrassed too! I haven't read the letter but I think she likes me!"

....A-miya.

....go to hell.

Although I felt that way, it was really vexing, but I can't help but wonder about the letter.

"Anyway, show me the chocolates and the letter."

"Ah. Yeah. Here."

A-miya rummage his bag and took it out.

....This, is mine isn't it?

The red ribbon, the wrapping... the size of the one that should've been in my desk.

Technically speaking, the one I had planned to receive.

...how did it flow that way~?!!!

Dammit!!!!
This is mine, isn't it!!!

IT'S SO VEXING THAT I WANT TO DIE!!!!!!!! IT'S SO VEXING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DAMMIT!!

I wanted to cry so much, but I couldn't.

"Fu~n..." (T/N: sighing sound)

Hey? Isn't it small? A bowl.

But wait a minute?!
What about the letter he got?!

"Read the letter."

And then halfway, I nabbed the letter and read it.

To Yuusuke-kun,

You said you didn't really like chocolates, but I made them anyway.
So if you eat these, then it'd be good if you'd like chocolates after eating them.
I'm not good at making these but please eat it.
When I sit next to Yuusuke-kun, I have fun listening to your interesting stories.
From now on, please take care of me.

O-ya Y-ko

Well, this is...

I don't really like this unnecessary miracle.

There was no doubt that this letter and chocolate should be in my desk.
Then why did A-miya misunderstood?
At that moment I understood.

His first name was also "Yuusuke"!!!!!!

Even the kanji is the same !!!

Furthermore...

His seat is on Oya-san's RIGHT!!!!!

In short, the seating order was: me → Oya-san → A-miya !!!!

Oh my...

Probably she wanted to avoid giving it to A-miya...

What the hell is this...

"I guess I better give her a reply like this [in a letter] huh?"

"No, it's not."

"Then a direct approach is better?"

"No, it's not."

Already reacting to it was difficult.
I got a shock that the chocolate got diverted to him instead.
A-miya being conceited was already pissing me off.
Once again, it's the cause of my own cowardice.

Back home, Mom asked "did you get any chocolates?"
Honestly speaking, I tried laughing.

Of course.
That's right.

If I wanted to, I could become a ninja.

Music and Donuts

Photobucket

Been having a donut craving lately.... Since last week... Cannot stop wanting to eat donuts... The thing is that, i've never fancied donuts but, last saturday, at 11pm I even drove to a Dunkin Donuts' Drive Thru to get donuts... Then yesterday, I had to go buy donuts also to get for tea, then now, at 11:30pm, I'm eating donuts... I don't know why.

Photobucket

Anyway.. was spending the whole night trying to make two mixtapes of Japanese songs i've been listening to for Luis and Robbie, my two music gurus. Actually, I've been wanting to make one since March, but I still haven't got it done yet.

(yeah okay. mixtapes don't exist anymore. it's a mixCD, actually)

For Luis, I was trying to get more of those dancable tunes and indie rock tunes... ala Hey Mercedes, and Bright Eyes... Which are what I feel Luis was into back then.
For Robbie, I was trying to get some indie rock tunes and some more rock and guitar based tunes, which are what I feel Robbie's music of preference...

While I was selecting songs for the mixtapes, I was chatting with Jingle... I was just thinking earlier today, that in 4 years, I'm gonna start an indie record label with Jingle... I was thinking about it today... Every industry had their pioneering indie record label. Back then before the whole emo/indie-rock scene, there was Drive Thru Records and Triple Crown Records, which probably signed 70% of the bands in the whole scene.
Then, in Japan, I discovered today, that the Drive Thru records of their indie rock scene was, of course, High Line Records (which closed in July this year, by the way)... I think MOST of the J-indie rock bands would have had something to do with this record label/CD store in some way during the course of their career.
SO ANYWAY, I thought, well, we need one too for South East Asia... And it's gonna be based in Singapore, and I'm gonna start it..... And the only person I could think of doing this with was Jingle.

So anyway, while i was chatting with her and selecting my songs for Luis and Robbie, I told her about the J-Rock/J-Indie scene.. and she told me to send the best song.

WELL... OF course ONE BEST song representative of the WHOLE ENTIRE genre is simply IMPOSSIBLE.

Because for J-Rock/J-Indie, albeit it's becoming saturated, it is unlike the music scenes in America or Britian or whatever, in the sense that, there is no one common tune or generically duplicated sound to all these bands in the scene. They all, really, do, have very different composition.

Let's hold on that thought, because there IS a clause to that statement.

J-indie/J-rock though, it is important to note that it borrows it's sounds from Brit-pop, grunge, American alternative rock, folk, emo, and punk rock. But perhaps like all things else that the Japanese adopts from another culture, they make those foreign adoption entirely very Japanese. And that's what you get with this scene too.

So, in that saying, although, unlike the music scenes in America whereby every emo band sounds like every other emo band, or when indie rock is popular, every indie band sounds like every other indie band, or when punk rock is popular every punk rock band sounds like very other punk rock band (i'm sure u get the idea).
Unlike that, the Japanese scene is different because their bands don't quite sound like every other band... HOWEVER, because they DO draw from the same pool of influences (Brit-pop, grunge, punk rock, emo, alternative rock and the likes), these are where the common thread of sounds starts appearing, and perhaps after awhile, the sounds all start getting saturated and the same... (well this is if you are, like me, checking out entire discographies of 20 bands a week).

But anyway, I was telling Jingle, that, well, I've not bought a single English CD for the past 3 years (and if I have, they were the Japan version of those albums lol)... It's quite sad, actually... And some might say it's stupid because 90% of the music I'm listening to are Japanese and I don't understand 90% of what is being sung...

But that said, it's just that, I find that the one place that ROCK MUSIC is still alive (well, the good ol' rock days anyway) is in Japanese Rock/Indie.

After Brit Pop has died (and shot twice in the grave), after American Alternative Rock was hung and beheaded (by folk hahaha), after grunge has become passé, yeah, the music and tunes and beats that I love so much that I can't find anywhere else, not in the Travis-Jonas Brothers-Wilco world, rises and falls between the chords and the riffs of Japanese rock bands. Yeah, THAT is why I am listening to so much Japanese music-- because here, I can still find a tune that I'd love, a tune that, well, suits my taste, whether I understand the words that comes along with it or not.

Anyway, PLEASE WATCH, this PV of Base Ball Bear's 愛してる/Aishiteru (I Love You)... There are lyrics like within the PV

Aishiteru
by Base Ball Bear

The first time I said "I love you"
Your eyes were kind of sad
I thought you'd be happy
It felt as if a cool draft passed by
Like a present i thought it'd be
Though a naive boy's idea

I love you
I can't be wrong about you, probably.
I want to walk with you, probably.
I love you, probably.

The third time I said "I love you"
You told me you don't like me anymore
"Really...what?" I kept repeating
Something seemed different, I felt it.

I drank with friends, talked love theories
No future, no answer

I love you
I can't be wrong about you, probably.
Yes, I want to walk with you, probably.

I love you, probably.

(Girl sings this part)
Every time you say those words
I feel love runs away
Love has no form
javascript:void(0)
Publish Post
(Guy sings again)
I would give you something close
Yes, I would give my heart

I love you...

I love you
I can't be wrong about you, probably
I want to walk with you, probably
I love you, probably
Most probably.

GAKUEN ALICE! 学園アルス

Is this an ACTUAL love confession by Natsume?????? The woman that I love!! WOWOWOWOWOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CHO SWEET YO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Photobucket
Photobucket

I simply think this series is amazing!! Chapter after chapter Tachibana Higuchi is amazing!! It's such a tense series yet so heartwarming especially with regards to Natsume/Mikan's relationship!!! She comes up with the best things ever!! It's never toooooooooooo sweet romance you feel like choking yourself. She puts it in all those really small but sweet ways!! I love it!!!!!

I've uploaded the scanslation of the chapters I really liked!!! There are more great Mikan/Natsume moments of course, but I really love these ones!!! Just click on the image to go to the next page!

Chapter 72~~!!

Mikan learns to create an alice stone... While the one she creates was TINY and no one wanted her alice type (nullification), Mikan thought hard about who would need her alice the most and she thought of Natsume! So in the dark she searches for him and really finds him and gives him her alice stone!! THe next day, she finds a RED (usually Natsume's color for his fire alice) alice by her window! SO sweet!!! Especially the part she grabs her hand... and I like how she says too bad it her stone is too small but Natsume thinks to himself "But it is enough..." SO SWEET!

Chapter 91~
This is a really funny a sweet chapter! Mikan and co.'s souls all gets mixed up!! Then Mikan goes hunting for Bear's soul and thinks that it's in Natsume's body... But actually, Natsume is Natsume! She then confides in "bear" about her confusion about Natsume's feelings for her... Then Natsume holds her hand!!! SO SUPER SWEET!!

Chapter 94~

SUPER SWEET CHAPTER!!!! Mikan cries alone in the bedroom over Tsubasa-sempai and Natsume.... As she is crying, Natsume enters her room through the window telling her he came because he thought she'd be crying alone... And they both hug each other comforting each other in the darkness..... SUPER SAD!!!!

Chapter 46~

Mikan, Natsume, Tsubasa and Ruka is being attacked... When Mikan is attacked, Natsume protects her with his fire and gets hurt in the process... Mikan sees him hurt but still fighting so strongly against the formidable opponent... THEN at that moment seeing him there, she finally understands the life Natsume lives and how different it was from their lives... and she understood the darkness he had to bear that made him how he was always so moody and silent and angry. Then she stands up and tells him that he doesn't need to protect her and she will protect herself. She tells him she will stand by him and use their alice together. (Remember her's is a nullifying alice that can protect Natsume from getting hurt by his own alice or by overusing his own alice) And she tells him that he shouldn't be the only one getting hurt all the time. He looks so touched by her words... because I suppose, this is the first time, someone was there with him to fight, and he didn't have to fight alone.... HOW SWEET~!!!!!!!!!

Chapter 86~

This is during the sports carnival arc where Natsume has to be mean to Mikan because he is being threatened by the higher ups... This was after the "suki na hito" (the person I like) confession chapter... It's really sad in these two chapters Natsume cannot show Mikan his true feelings and instead he has to be mean to her that hurts her very much... And the only way for him to show his feelings to her is behind a mask... SO SUPER TOUCHING BUT SO SUPER SAD!!!!

I didn't include the "suki na hito" chapter although I really like it and it's really really sweet!!! Besides these parts I also REALLY REALLY like the pre Hanazonokai arc where Natsume and Mikan gets stuck together (literally) but when they can seperate, Natsume doesn't let go... I like how that night he tells her "Please quiet for now. After tomorrow ends, I'll give you to Ruka...".... So sweet and sad!!! But... KINDA confusing no??? wth is Natsume about anyway???

Anyway, here's my other Gakuen Alice post. Mah Analysis hahahahahaha...

Check out the manga online!! You can read it!!! Hoorah!

ALL SCANS TRANSLATION AND SUCH IN THIS POST GOES TO THE VARIOUS RESPECTIVE GROUPS AND TRANSLATORS/SCANNERS.. FOR THE CHAPTERS I TOOK: IGC GROUP, Aminatsu032, JE-Gakuenalice. Thank you to Sora-san, Applechips, and all the translators and scanslators without which, we would never have Gakuen Alice in English. Thank you. All KUDOS goes out too them.

Times of Your Life

So, today is the last day with the academic staff at MCKL. I guess in the end, things have to come to an end, eventually, anyway.

They've been wonderful. I mean, sure we complain alot at times... but this is one place that there's no office politics and people don't backstab each other or anything. Everyone truly is friends with everyone else.

And it was wonderful meeting and learning from Ms Lim, Mrs Sharma, Mr Ratna, Mrs Chiu, Mrs Dharma, Mr Ganesan. I really enjoyed talking to them very much. And they've all looked out for me and adviced me in one way or another, especially Ms Lim and Mr Ganesan, as well as, Mrs Sharma and Mrs Dharma.... It was really nice talking to Mr Ratna about geology last June and with Mrs Chiu about various things...

It has been really nice working here with them... And I especially enjoy the times when I could talk to them... They've been incredibly nice to me and I pray for God's blessing to be on them and their families....

So.. Thank you Mr Ganesan for always being so kind to me. Thank you Ms Lim for always looking out for me and helping me. Thank you Mrs Sharma and Mr Ratna. Thank you everyone...

∞エダマメ!!! Mugen Edamame!!!!

DUDE!!! THEY ARE SO CUTE!!! I WANT ONE!!!!!!!!

Photobucket

Apparently, it's some kind of fad now in Japan but not that that matters!! It's so cute!!! Isshiki-san posted a pic of his??? on the Tsubaki blog, so i saw it and it was sooooooooo cute!!!!!!! LOOK!!!

Photobucket

DAMN CUTE!!!!

I guess it's called Mugen Edamame coz... it's really mugen huh??? You can pop it forever... hahaha......... (that sounded WRONG)

It's by the same people who made the infinite bubble wrap.... haha!

月と手のひら

This one's about Tsuki to Tenohira....

I think, this is the only song that in my life, I've heard almost 1000 times. I'm not exaggerating. Yet, yet... listening to it on my brother's newly bought $2000 music system yesterday, the beauty of the song still touches my heart and almost makes me cry... as if it was my very first time listening to it...

I'm still looking for the best pair of earphone/sound system, to listen to the song. I really want to hear it exactly like how Lunkhead intended it to be listened to. I want to listen to it the most beautiful way possible. I want to listen to it in a way that would faithfully represent the power and beauty and soul that is encapsulated in the song. I want to to listen to the song in a way that I would be able to touch its heart.

I've still not been able to find a sound system good enough for that!!

There have been many songs in my life.... And after listening to Tsuki to Tenohira so much, sometimes part of me, I am abit sick of listening to the song casually.... But..... but..... when I really sit down, quietly, close my eyes and listen...... the song is simply just so..... beautiful.... Really....

I don't know how to describe the song... I don't know how to describe the feeling that I feel when I truly listen to it... except to say that.... it's just this sense of beauty that just captures me... like my heart is being wrapped by a really really beautiful sadness...

It's like his voice just sings within... and the music that flows around... and the silence of his guitar and his voice....

I wrote this in an email to Phooi Wah:

"Actually, you know why I love Tsuki to Tenohira so much? Because when he sings the song, he sings it with meaning, like it's sung from his heart.. With Tsuki to Tenohira, it's not just because the music is beautiful but because... the song has soul. It's like... sure it's in Japanese, and I can't understand anything at all.... But, you know, the feeling from his heart reaches out to me..."

Maybe I am wrong and the song means nothing at all to Odaka-san.... But.... Really... I feel that this song is very different, different from their other songs. It's on a level of its own because of that.... because it's not just music.... it's melody, melody sung and played from the heart to hearts....

And it's this soul i wish to touch and capture and hold in my heart.... but it is this soul that touches, captures and holds my heart everytime I listen to this song, even when I play it for the 1000th time....

Odaka-san has said before that the whole album Tsuki to Tenohira album was made to capture the feeling of 「みんなきっと少しだけ人より幸せになりたいだけ」(Perhaps everyone wants to be a little bit happier than other people)... I wonder what he meant by that......

I really really wish I knew what Tsuki to Tenohira truly means... not just the lyrics translation (thanks to Norika)... but, you know, where does its heart come from? What is the essence that envelopes this song?

I think, to me that is why I've still not got bored of this song... because, I feel... it has life.

Here's to another 500 chapters =_______=

SPOILERS AHEAD.

INUYASHA

Sigh.............. sometimes............ i wonder what Takahashi Rumiko is doing.................... I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY want Inuyasha to just END!!!! (who else is with me on this?!)....

Photobucket
DIE NARAKU DIE!!!

Photobucket
OH SHIT!!! KAGOME GETS SUCKED INTO A MEIDOU!!!!

anddddddddddddddddddd....

Photobucket
She ends up in high school??? HUH???????? Dude, did she even SIT for the entrance test???? Last I checked she hasn't been home for the past 200 chapters!!!

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO........ The much anticipated... MUCH MUCH MUCH anticipated DEATH OF NARAKU was................. what the hell?? a prelude to something more????? aaaaaaaaaaaaaa~~~~~~~ wthhhhh~~~~~

Oh... i just want it to end....!!!

Well.... ok, truthfully, I think this sudden twist in the plot is very interesting. DUDE, at least it's more interesting than the 10000 times Naraku almost died but didn't!!! Takahashi should have pulled off something like THIS wayyyyyyyyyy earlier!!!
But anyway.... Kinda getting sick of following this series..... I can't imagine the fans who actually followed this series from the very begining in 1996.

Well overall, I think Inuyasha is still a good series... IFFFFFFFFF takahashi had not put in those 10000 times when naraku almost died but didn't... I mean it REALLY got crap after awhile... If only she had followed through this series with twist and turns in the plots like she had in the begining and continued to make the story more interesting and had more GOOD TWISTS in all the chapters after Chapter 250++, it would have been a good series to bear through the 500+++ chapters.

I mean... c'mon.... you can only bear through the same "inuyasha&co narrowly escapes death... Inuyasha powers up with new technique.... showdown with Naraku... Inuyasha's new technique gets its ass kicked... Naraku escapes death ... inuyasha&co is down and out.. Inuyasha powers up with new technique.... showdown with Naraku... Inuyasha's new new technique kicks ass... Naraku escapes death... inuyasha&co is pissed off... Naraku devices new evil plot... showdown with naraku...Inuyasha's new technique gets its ass kicked... Naraku escapes death ... inuyasha&co is down and out.. Inuyasha powers up with new technique.... showdown with Naraku... Inuyasha's new new technique kicks ass... Naraku escapes death... inuyasha&co is pissed off... Naraku devices new evil plot... showdown with naraku....Inuyasha's new technique gets its ass kicked... Naraku escapes death ... inuyasha&co is down and out.. Inuyasha powers up with new technique.... showdown with Naraku... Inuyasha's new new technique kicks ass... Naraku escapes death... inuyasha&co is pissed off... Naraku devices new evil plot... showdown with naraku....."

YEAH... you get the point!

ANYWAY I think this current twist is wonderful, but it should have come wayyyyyyyyy earlier... maybe in chapter 400+, it wouldn't be that bad.....

Anyway.... *sigh* looks like we have to keep reading... I really wonder what's up next... Inuyasha jumped into the meidou after Kagome.... Kagome is back in the present world.... The bone eater's well is gone on both ends (does that mean their world can never ever be connected again???)... Naraku's dead but the jewel that bears a grudge against kagome is not yet destroyed or purified but is drifting somewhere there in the meidou.....

Hmmm... let's see what's up in the next chapter............ I just wanna know what happens to sesshoumaru and rin man!! Who cares about Inuysha and Kagome!! Should have just ended with them not being able to meet each other ever again! END OF STORY! HOORAY!

Let's forage to see if Shounen Sunday announced anything about the end of Inuyasha! muahahaha!

Well that said... I won't disown Inuyasha because it was Inuyasha that first introduced me to the wonderful world of anime/manga/japan/japanese/etc... sooooooo!!! Maybe one LONGGGGGGGGG day I'll sit down and reread everything from the begining..... hahahahaah.... woah... what a task!

Inuyasha v56 ch552 “Naraku’s Death” (Naraku no Shi)
犬夜叉 第552話 「奈落の死」

My real wish…? That’s right… I merely… wanted Kikyou’s heart… Kikyou, it looks like… I can’t go the same place you did…

The arrow hits the jewel.

At that time, I… made a wish on the jewel… I made it when Byakuya cut Kagome. When I die… that wish will be granted…

Naraku is annihilated. At that time, a meidou appears behind Kagome.

Great.... so much for the much anticipated death of Naraku =___= Here comes another 400 chapters about Kagome. At least he's dead. I HOPE.

Here's a song. The Brilliant Green - Stand by Me. It was the ending theme to the Japanese series "Tantei Gakuen Q" which I have been watching... Nice ending. Nice song.

JDrama: Yukan Club! 有閑倶楽部!

Photobucket

Yukan Club (Leisure Club)! 有閑倶楽部! Despite BADDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD reviews from certain trusted Jdrama blog sites, I TOTALLYYYYY enjoyed this film!!!!

Hahahahaha...

First, I think viewers who would not like this film are those that take the series too seriously or those who are looking who look for deeper things in films.

C'mon!!!!!! Watch it for the laughs!! Like you would an anime!! Forget the realism! Forget the plotline even!! I really really really loved this series because it was utterly HILARIOUS!

I totally enjoyed this series! Not only did each episode really made me laugh, I didn't think the storyline or the plot was bad at all even... Actually, it's really like reading a live-action manga. There wasn't much of a plot to follow because the plots are pretty much episodic but it's just hillarious how the gang go around trying to discover and solve each episode's mystery/situation! The characters are utterly hillarious and to me, that's what makes this series really fun to watch.

I would totally recommend it to people who like..... COMEDY. It's not slapstick... it's just.... very..... JAPANESE! hahaha...

AND If you're wondering... NO. I AM NOT A KAT-TUN FAN (I'm a LUNKHEAD FAN YO). BUT YES! I totally love this series!

NOW to the story itself!!!

STORYLINE/CHARACTERS:

Yukan Club series is adapted from the manga of the same name. This series is about 6 rich kids who together formed the Yukan Club to solve mysteries in each episode. The group consists of three guys and three girls. It seems that the characters are quite different from the manga. Also, actually, part of the premise sounds like Ouran Host Club... But I think the adaptation is the other way round... That is, Ouran was adapted from this series.. since Yukan club is actually a series from the 1990s.

Photobucket
The lead character of this series is Miroku (played by Akanishi Jin of the JE group Kat-Tun) who is the son of the police commisioner (a character that appears in every episode too). And well, yeah, he's from Kat-Tun so his character is the typical bad-boy street-smart cool but good-hearted and funny and sensitive type of character (i bet you there is a name for it).

Photobucket
Then there is Seishiro (played by Yokoyuma Yu from the JE group Janjani8) who is the heir to a hospital empire and trained in martial arts. His character is also the typical calculative cunning genius who comes up with solutions for the group in most episodes.

Photobucket
The other male character is Bidou (played by Taguchi Junnosuke of Kat-Tun also) who is half japanese, son of the sweedish ambassador. He is the playboy and femine-male character of the group, but next to Yuri, he's utterly hillarious!!! I like this character and I thought Taguchi-san really played this role very well!!! He is also the TOTAL playboy character in this series.

Photobucket
As for the girls, first, there is Yuri ... I'm not sure if she's the lead female (she's suppose to be the lead character in the manga version).. but anyway, she's the daughter of a world-renowned but down-to-earth president of the Kenbishi Business. She LOVES to eat, can kick ass and hands down is the most hillarious and enthusiastic and crazy character in this whole series!!!!

Photobucket
Then there is Noriko who is the traditional-japanese character of this series. Her father is a famous japanese painter and her mother is from a tradition tea ceremony family. She often spots a kimono!!! And she utterly HATES MEN!!!! (except in episode 6 where she encounters a really really sweet romance with a ruffian boy!! sooo cute~~~!)

Photobucket
Last but not least, there is the stunning beauty of the group, Karen, who is the daugther of a rich jewel dealer. Her aim is to marry into richness!! hahaha..

MY NIJU YEN:

FAVOURITE CHARACTER:

Photobucket
Yuri!!!!!

I really really like Yuri!! She's just damn hillarious!!!! I think if the show was just Miroku, Seishiro, Noriko and Karen alone, it would not be a comedy at all... But Yuri and also Bidou REALLY REALLY spice things up and make it damnnnn damnnn funny!!!
I guess I like Yuri the most because she's the least "female". She loveeess to eat, she is CRAZY, she can kick ass and her reactions are just damn funny!!!!!!!!!
She's played by Minami who is half french... and I thought Minami-san did a GREAT job with this character!!!

MY FAVOURITE EPISODES:

Episode 4!!!
This episode is about an 80-year-old miser Kino who falls in love with Bidou. She dies and comes to haunt Bidou to bring him to the after life with her.
I love this episode because it's UTTERLY damn hillarious!!!! Especially the first half where Bidou totally laments his situation while the whole group takes the opportunity to laugh at his misery!! hahahaha

Photobucket

Episode 8!!!
This episode is about Miroku's parents. His father has to deal with an exploding flower bomb in his hand sent to him by an angered okama while trying to make it to an appointment with his wife or else his wife will divorce him!! And to top it up he has to deal with a SEVERE CASE of diarrhea!!
I love this episode because the part where the three boys cross dressed as girls is ABSOLUTELY hillarious!!! hahahahaha... Especially Miroku when he sucks it up and grudgingly plays along clinging to his father and calling him "ojichama" then he almost pukes saying it hahahahaha.... Priceless!!!!
(I bet there were like thousands of Kat-Tun fangirls passing out from watching this scene!! hahahaah... Dude, I'd die if I ever see Yoshitaro in such scene... I'll NOT die from thrill but die from UTTER SHOCK!!! Please.... DON'T LET THIS EVER HAPPEN.)

Photobucket
DUDE.... They actually look DAMN GOOD as girls!! hahahaha

Episode 9:

Yuri episode!!!!! Minami did a great job in this episode!!!
Yuri gets possessed by a ghost that wants revenge against a teacher at the school!
And I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE the part where a possessed Yuri tries to kill the teacher with a vase and Miroku grabs her and Bidou takes the vase away from her... Then the teacher questions them and Bidou starts an exercise routine dance with the vase!! DAMN FUNNY YO!!!!

Photobucket

But most of all... I really like this episode coz it had alot of Miroku and Yuri scenes!! ^___^ which leads me to the next category...

FAVOURITE PARING:

Photobucket
Yuri and Miroku!!!~~~~~ (sorry i'm not a Kat-Tun fan girl here.... I like the guys and girls thing better!!)

I think they're really cute together... They are childhood friends (assuming this because their fathers are very close childhood friends), and they hang out with each other outside of the club (this isn't shown but implied). Also in the manga, it seems that they belong to a Rock club together too.

Also, I think like in a majority of the episodes they're usually shown together... They have alot of childish arguments and playful fights with each other (more than with the other characters...), she'd be the one disturbing him the most, they always sit next to each other in classes (all three class scenes), he also usually disturbs her too. Also, sometimes when the scene is focusing on something or someone else, the both of them might be talking with each other or fighting with each other in the background. So, usually little things like that kinda show that they might be closer to each other than they are to the others (of opposite sex) in the club.
Also, besides their fathers being childhood buddies, when Miroku's mom came to visit, she specially bought an eiffel tower cookie/bread gift for her (after that you can see Miroku distrubing Yuri over the bread in the background).

I think they're really cute together!!

Photobucket
This scene from Episode 9 is really cute!!!!! They go "SOU KAAAAA??!!" together... Soooo cute~~~!! of course Miroku was totally insulting her there for her shallowness hahahaha!! so cute~!! hahaha

Photobucket
This scene was from episode 7... It was quite cute because Miroku suddenly realized that Yuri ate his cake and he questions her and she denies it then they start fighting over cake hahaha... so cute...

The starting of Episode two was really cute too... Miroku was playing with a toy helicopter and was ready to shoot a can when Yuri kicked the can away and he screamed "YURI!!! BAKA!!!!" hahahaha damn cute~

Photobucket
This is from episode 7 and it was really cute too!! After Karen leaves to go on her date with the prince, they wave her goodbye and then they start slapping each other's hands!! So cute!! haha

Photobucket
WOO!! YEAH!! Hold her more!! hehehehehe
Ok... this scene is not as cute as the look of the scene hahaha but I love it because he was holding her!!! ^___^;;... Actually she was possesed by a ghost and fighting to get free but he was holding her back... Then his father came along and asked them what they were doing..... then his father laughed and thought they were both dating... hahahaha... so cute~~~!! I WISH THEY WERE!!!

But anyway.... There were no romance really developed in the series (nor in the manga, it seems...) Although, definitely there was some "attraction" thing suggested between Seishiro and Noriko who are also childhood friends. I think the manga also has abit on Miroku and Yuri but barely.

ANYWAY! It was a great series and I really enjoyed every episode!! And it's a good series to rewatch again and again!!! Because it's all just for laughs!!!

CURRENTLY, now, I am watching Tantei Gakuen Q! It's farrrrrrrrrrr from the comedic Yukan Club but it's a good mystery detective series!!

I just realized it but I've actually seen the lead actor for this series, Kamiki Ryunosuke, on some TV variety program when I was in Japan back in December... NO WONDER HE LOOKED SO FAMILIAR!!!!
Wednesday, April 30, 2008

watching TV makes you stupid....

Well.... ok... the song didn't exactly say that, but didn't it imply that watching TV burns your bright future?!?!?!

nevertheless....

I really want to check out these jdrama series.... I really kawtow to those people whose blogs I've visited. How on earth did they manage to watch so many series =______=

Hanazakari no Kimitachi e (Hani Kimi)
(Ashiya Mizuki, a Japanese girl in the U.S. who one day sees the young athlete Sano Izumi (Oguri) compete in the high jump on television. She begins to idolize him, and decides to move to Japan to attend the same school as him. However, Izumi goes to an all-boys school, so Mizuki disguises herself as a boy to achieve her dream of being with her idol.)

Hmmm... I came across the manga version of this series many years ago... but I wasn't attracted to read the manga... I don't really like shoujo mangas that much... But somehow, this is one of the series that sounds like it's a good watch as a live action... So i really want to buy this series from somewhere.... I hate torrenting (IT'S SLOW!!!)

Tokyo Friends (the series and the movie)
(Otsuka Ai plays the character of a small town girl who goes to Tokyo chasing after her dream... On arrival, she finds a job as a waitress in a restaurant and meets guitarist Ryuuji Shintani. Ryuuji likes her voice and invites her to join his band as the vocalist, The Survival Company.
ANDDDD the character comes from SHIKOKU!! muahahahah Yoshitaroooo~~~~~)

I saw the preview of this series on Astro, actually... And I really liked the songs on it... So i downloaded the OST... But I've been unable to download the series... The movie is for sale but for some reason, the series is not.. It's only 5 episodes too!

Eli, Eli, Lema Sabachthani (movie)
(A rich millionaire hires a detective to find a cure for the “Lemming Syndrome,” as his only grandchild is stricken with the disease. The detective learns that the live music played by the band Stepin Fetchit may have the innate ability to cure people stricken with the disease. Now the grandfather, detective and the granddaughter travel to find the musicians and cure the granddaughter of Lemming Syndrome.)

Hmm... I came across this movie just today while i was randomly browsing through ebay... I thought it was really interesting and if I can find a way to watch this relatively cheaply, I'd love to check it out.

Orange Days (Series)
(One day, Kai Yuuki meets a girl who is playing violin in campus. She is Sae Hagio. In marked contrast to her beautiful tone and attractive looks, her personality is somewhat impertinent. And to top it off, she communicates through very vulgar sign language. Four years ago, she lost the most important thing for a violinist - her hearing.)

I saw the DVD for sale the other day at Speedy video... for SIXTY BUCKS... so i decided to download it... It's almost done... then my comp got hit by a virus, so i have suspended all downloading activity... But would like to check it out ^__^

Besides those, Aida has asked me to check out Hana Yori Dango (Meteor Garden). Hmmm... Like Hana Kimi, I've known about the series for awhile but I've never checked it out... Maybe it's too shoujo??? hahahahahahaha.... Anyway... it's TWO seasons.. so let's see how it goes.

I WOULD like to check out Hana Yori and Hana Kimi... For some reason, there are some shoujo series that I think would be nice to be watch as a live action and not the manga version or anime... I guess... that's because shoujo series can get too sickeningly sweet sometimes!! hahahaha... and the drawing and expressions on Anime and Manga can really overload it! hahahaha... I dunno!! I suppose!! hahaha....

Anyway.... I'm VERY picky with entertainment (except music I guess)... Its always the same type of books, the same genre of music, the same themed animes, etc etc... I don't like anything that's too dramatic and sad (which leaves out 99.9999999% of all j/k/t dramas hahaha)... Actually I prefer watching comedies or mystery series for japanese movies and dramas (I like those food type of shows the best!!! It's always wacky and interesting!!), I like action/adventure with a little mix of romance for animes, I like BRAINLESS ACTION FLICKS! for Hollywood movies, and as for books... it really depends on my mood hahaha... but nothing drama!!! LOOONGGGGG and BOOORING...

I am currently watching:

Yu Yu Hakusho (anime)
YEAH.... FINALLY..... wanted to watch this like YEARSSS ago... to hell with downloading.. the entire 112 episodes was onsale for only 50 bucks the other day. It's okay... abit too much repetitive fighting.......... like pokemon style of fighting hahahahahahaha

Busou Renkin (anime)
Was also on sale!! only 17 bucks!!! Anyway, i did not know (or kinda forgot) that the manga of this series is by Nobuhiro Watsuki!!!! The creator of Rurouni Kenshin!! But anyway, this story is very different from Kenshin.... Still good though!

Food Detective 2 (series)
Yeappppp I told you I like food japanese drama... So have been watching this one... Just still till ep3, though... Kinda long, 1 hour each episode!! hahaha

Currently Reading:

Inuyasha
PLEASE ENDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!! Looks like the end is NEAR!! REALLY NEAR!!! But dude... it's Inuyasha and Takahashi Rumiko!! So we better keep our fingers crossed yo!!

Gakuen Alice
DUDE, this series KICKS ASS! PERIOD. DUDE. KICKS ASS!! It might LOOK elementary school but dude!! The story is AWESOME!!

And NO, my Japanese is NOT improving one bit!!! =_______=
But well, at least I can understand more of Yu Yu Hakusho in Japanese when then subbing is COMPLETELY wrong and doesn't make sense...

There goes my "bright" future, Isshiki-san.... *sigh*

サイダー!!! LUNKHEAD!

hahahahah!! I found myself a song I like the most in the new album!!! "Saidaa" (Cider).... I think it's a really, really lovely song!!!! Buttttt.... I can't really understand the whole thing!! I think it's one of those lost love-nostalgic-moving forward kind of Yoshitaro songs!!!

Lovely!!

The music is also VERY VERY different from anything they've made before! But the music is really calm and lovely!

Please listen!

I even PAINSTAKINGLY transcribe the kanji lyrics!!! Muahahahaha...

Aaaaaaaaaaaa... I really curse my inability to read Japanese!! I'll pay anyone one can translate it for me!!

WILL THIS SONG DETHRONE TSUKI TO TENOHIRA????????? Aaaaa!! I think if i understood the song, it might.... HMMMMMMMMM!

Happy 28th Birthday, Odaka-san!!!
(those who will die of Yoshitaro overdose, be warned)

Photobucket
Happy Birthday, Odk...!! I wish you great sucess and happiness in the year ahead!! I really hope it will be a year of success for Lunkhead in the coming year! May your wish and dreams come true~~~ ^___^

hehe... I really like how Yoshitaro looks in the pictures above!! Don't you think he can be so cute????????

I wanted to do a collage of his pictures and how his looks has changed over time... and it really HAS!! Actually, sometimes, I think he's really SUPER CUTE... but actually, there are also at times where he looks TOTALLY different, like as if it was a picture of a different person!!

Anyway, I think there are tooooooooooo many nice picss!!!! I really wanted to put in some from the PVs, some from like the Live Video, some from the Lunkhead nikki, some from the internet.... BUTTTTT... i thought.... I better NOT kill any blog readers from yoshitaro overload, yeah???!

Anyway, so I made this one.... I wanted to do more with it, color correct some of the pics, and do more effects.... But I got lazy.... HAHAHAHA!! He's still cute though.... ANNNDDDD... don't you think the one with the Ebisu beer is damnnnnnnnnnn cute???? AAAAAAAAAA~~ Dang!! He can be really cute sometimes!! shitez..

Anyway.... to celebrate Yoshitaro's birthday, here's a comic he drew!!

Photobucket
It's about him dreaming... hehehehe..... I really like the third frame!! Meeting a beautiful girl he's thinking "Kawaii" (cute) and she's thinking "suteki" (lovely/great)......
SO CUTE!!! hahahaha!!!

Anyway, IF you can read Chinese (traditional), I recommend you go to Ame's blog... http://hktest.myweb2s.com/tool/BlogDiary?id=777&did=189.... She posted a really really sweet birthday wish to Yoshitaro on her blog... Even with just an online translation tool, her words about the meaning of Lunkhead in her life is so wonderful.... 「即使發生甚麼事,怎樣的痛苦,也可以因為你們而熬過來。 被你們拯救了。」... I think that's the most wonderful thing a fan can say about a band =)

I really wish i can understand Japanese to understand Lunkhead better... But anyway, that's not possible at the moment....

Anyway, still on Yoshitaro and Lunkhead!! I'm happy!! I WON THE bid!! Now i got the article about Yoshitaro.... LOVE LIFE!(dated 2005) muahahahaha...

Photobucket
Actually of the 27 pages, I have probably 20 of them already... and the rest that I don't have are all short album review articles... BUTTTTTT this one on Yoshitaro is a MUST NOT miss!! No??

Anyway... to balance it out... HEHEHEHE... I have a picture of Isshiki-san of the band Tsubaki, つばき!!
Photobucket
How can you resist??? Isshiki-san with a hairdryer!!!!!! hehehehehehe

I'm abit out-dated, but I just found out that Tsubaki has a monthly column in CD-Data magazine... So this pic is from there ^__^

SOOOOOO........... NOW all i need to do is know how to read Japanese!! =____=

And........ I know.... after this post, you'd doubt my reason for liking Lunkhead so much... But really, I really do love them for their music... Komorebi is playing now, and.... it's really beautiful, you know... Yoshitaro really wrote such a wonderful song... And... I was listening to Tsuki to Tenohira earlier today... and you know what...? I want to go to Japan, and I am envious of those who can go.. NOT because i wish to meet Yoshitaro again or whatever... But really, actually... I really, really, really want to listen to him sing Tsuki to Tenohira again, and I really want to hear him sing Komorebi, and I really want to hear him sing these songs I hear on my ipod everyday... That's really why... =)

So.. that said... here's a Lunkhead song, Sakura Biyori~ Actually, I really loved this song, and I prefer this song over Kirariiro... But it seems that the Japanese fans absolutely love Kirariiro, and this song's not as popular... Anyway, this is a really nice song, please listen!

LASTLY..................................................

Lunkhead's 5th Album "Huka" 『孵化』will be released TOMORROW!!! (15/4)

NEW ALBUM OMEDETOU GOZAIMASU!!!!!!

And.... LUNKHEAD TOUR2008「エントラン(^3^)-☆chu!!! will be resuming in Oita on 19/4!!

jpn eng.

so here's to japanese english... aaaaaaa~~~~~~~~ i will never understand!

SO PEOPLE REMEMBER!!!

セトリ (serito) = SET LIST (errr you do know what this is right? Its the "playlist" of a concert)
リリス(ririsu) or even just リリ (riri) = RELEASE (as in album release)
ツアー (tsuaa) = Tour (wth?)

Blah... it's already hard enuf to understand Japanese English with katakana... but seriously, and with the usual Japanese practice of shortening words, it's get even harder to understand!!! (of coz, i am sure ALL would be understood if I just bothered to study the language properly!)

Other usual shortened Japanese English words:

パソコン (pasokon) = personal computer/PC..... yeah why can't it just be PC (ピシ) hahahah!
テリビ (teribi) = ........ terribly.... NOOOO... it's Television... Why can't it be TV??

Does that make sense? Anyway... THAT's MY brand of Japanese, make sense or not, grammatically right or not...!!!!

So, crap... they're selling a PHOTOBOOK of Lunkhead at their SPECIAL concert... which i can't buy.... So, i decided to try to email the organizers to see if they'd sell it online...... I DOUBT they would but, IF they even read the email, i wonder if they'd understand my email.... baaaa :( sigh... must tell myself that i won't die without the photobook!!! Aaaaa~

Anyway, amazing how far learning those simple conjuctions in Japanese actually helps in constructing more complex sentences. Just "kedo", "kara", "dakara", "soshite", helped very much... and amazing how useful the particle "no" is! hahahaha... Amazing how useful learning the "-tai" (want) verb conjugation is! Or is because I'm always writing about something I WANT in Japanese! hahahaha....

Anyway, was looking at some verb conjugating pages just now.... http://homepage3.nifty.com/jgrammar/grammar/jgr_vcon.htm

Dude... As always, after searching more on Japanese, I am always left with this hopelessness.... I'LL NEVER UNDERSTAND JAPANESE!!! Aaaaaa~ thus, I'll never understand Yoshitaro... *SAD!* ='( *sniff*

ANDDDD.... Last night i had a dream I met Lunkhead again... For some reason, they were playing a show in Malaysia...... But when I woke up, u know, I just had this realization and think and the truth is that, I know I will NEVER meet or talk to Yoshitaro ever again, and that's the truth.... as much as I delude or day dream about it everyday, I know in my heart of hearts that, I'll probably Never have a chance to meet or talk to them again....

They're getting more famous, and we all know how that goes....

JPN

「夢から覚めるにはまだ早い」

I was looking through some papers from my first trip to Japan to look for Rie's number, and I was thinking... about Japan.

"masih dijajah," as someone once told me. Perhaps.

My perception of Japan is still clouded under a much hazy glow, like an unclear dream, but a dream and an idealized perspective nonetheless.

When I think about Japan, I still do think about the little quirks and the little things in my memory that I saw there that captured me. So perhaps, after seeing the Japan I saw, I still only really have good memories of the place. It's still the good, weird, different, facinating things that I saw that I liked that frames how I view Japan.

Like many (and I mean MANYYYYYYYYYYYY much to Asuka's horror), I got to know things japanese through Anime (oh i am so sorry Asuka, but that's the reality of the world outside japan: Anime is cool!). But I suppose, it was the culture or the perceived beauty of their cultural heritage that first captured me. I remember the very first thing that captured me about Japan that made me like fall idealically in-love with this absolutely unknown place to me was the feeling I felt when I watched BOA's My Will ending theme song on Inuyasha; it was of the red spider flower and the lights of the ferris wheel refected on the water...

Now that I have seen Japan, well, their past and their history and their culture still intrigue me, and I'm still facinated by it (especially Shintoism and its symbolisms)...  But I like the place for many other things, you know, especially how it's very different-- how Japan is a quirk of its own-- and it's these little things that still paints for me this idealized perception.

I will never understand how they think (haha!) but the things I like about Japan are like how there's just this bombardment and myriad of things swirlling around. There are a thousand things confined in a one-inch space, roads don't make sense swirlling between houses that are packed like sardines in a can then suddenly out of nowhere, there's a nice lil cherry tree with a string of vending machines lining the corridors. I like how Japan is this streaming boom of technology but yet, culture and heritage, and the oldness of the past permeates through their conciousness. I like how japan, and perhaps the Japanese, is this coagulation of a thousand conflicting and harmonious things that just flows in as... well, Japan. It's like, things there just look so foreignly familliar. So global yet uniquely Japanese and only Japanese. It's like every other country you go to, you will recognize famillair things or brands or whatever, but Japan itself, you think you kinda know the thing but dude, the product or the thing is just so... Japanese.

It's like... How i feel about Japan still has that idealized glow that My Will ending made me feel, except now it's touched and rubbed through with these other things that I experienced there and saw there... And on the flipside is that, everything I saw there or experience there is, in itself, also rubbed through and touched with this idealized glow and feeling.

Everything else before stands, but something else has come in-- and they just mix together and reinforces the other to form this perception and feeling that I have of Japan.

In many ways, the things that draws me to this country has changed and is changing and perhaps has faded or morphed-- I don't think I'm like all crazy over Japan like I know some friends are-- There are many realities of Japan that I don't like, or don't think I'd ever get used to--You have to understand that this was a country that was CLOSED to the outside world for hundreds and hundreds of years till the very end of the 19th Century. In many many ways more than many other modern developed countries, history and cultural religious beliefs are very much integral in Japan and the Japanese.
I think that the Japanese and Japan are just too different for you to ever feel like you entirely belong, or to even feel entirely comfortable, I think. (That's why it felt so great to feel in that one moment standing there in the concert that you belonged to this group of fans as we sang together from our different worlds under the banner of the same song). But I don't think it's any fault of theirs, of course. It's just that, to be Japanese is to require you to be born into the conciouness of a being a pure Japanese-- to be born into the history and culture and belief and teaching and flow that every pure Japanese inherits from Japan's cultural, religious and historical past.. -- And I think that unless you are a pure Japanese, you will never truly understand that..
I don't mean that in offense to people who aren't "pure" Japanese-- But it's a culture entirely very, very unique and distinct in it's thinking. I never really use the term "conciousness (of a collective)" for any country's people, because it rarely applies that a single country has a singular conciousness-- but Japan is that exception.

I don't know... I guess knowing that-- you just have to view Japan idealistically! hahaha... U might be a lil dissapointed, or feel outcast or bewildered, if you didn't look at Japan in an idealized light! ;)

I don't know. In many ways, I've not seen much of Japan at all. I would love to travel to other places like Kamakura and Nikko (?) and especially the coastal towns and perhaps up to Hokkaido (IN SUMMER OF COURSE haha). I wish to visit more.... tourist places haha! Yet, at the same time I would love to stay longer, especially, or go to other lesser-known Japan places that are more well, Japanese... Or at least, more Japan, more representative of the essense of the idealized Japan that you see in Jdrama haha!

But I think, I do like my experiences of Japan. Of getting semi lost, of all the "huh?", of all the "wow!", of all the rusa masuk kampung... I guess, it's just, I don't know where my experience stand-- it's neither like experiecing it like a "native" (Honey, if u ain't japanese, I think u will NEVER experience Japan as a native), nor has it been a tourist experience... It's just caught between the two.. A lil of both.

I'm glad I got to travel on my own, I'm glad (and thank you to all) I got to stay with locals with them and with their families, I'm very very happy I got to stay and visit Japan "suburbs" (all those Ranma's scenes haha!), I'm glad I got to deal with their higly "huh??" subway/train/local train/bullet train systems, I'm GLAD I GOT TO GO FOR CONCERTS IN JAPAN!!!--- that one of course, it's a whole experience in its own being together in part of something special with all these people you can't even speak the same language with! haha!, I'm glad I got to the the countryside of Japan and not just the cities, I'm glad I got to see Kyoto, I'm glad I got to see Tokyo, I'm glad I got to see their kombini hahaha! (ahhhhhh especially Yoshitaro outside them kombini!)...

A myriad of things, yes.

I don't know.

I guess.. I still don't quite know why Japan captures me.

No, Asuka, thankfully, it's not because of the anime.

And, i suppose, it's not even the music (although I'd kill to have a chance to live in Tokyo for the next few months just to go for Lunkhead shows every weekend hahaha!).

I don't know what it is that captures me-- except for those hazy glow of memories and expectations and images that blurs between what I saw and experienced and what I've watched on TV and read in books. It's a lil of the the things I saw, the things I imagine and the things I believe about Japan and the Japanese.

And as Yoshitaro sang in the line i quoted at the begining of this 'email', "It's still early to wake from (this) dream.."

Well, Yoshitaro, we'll see how that goes.

1) it's shit i don't understand Japanese at all. I wanna read all these stuff about Asian Kung Fu Generation... WHY CAN'T I UNDERSTAND?!

2) Well, Ryota's nice. Taught me Japanese again today. I think that he's a friendly person. Very willing to help and to teach, which is good. He's abit silent when there's another person around though, even if that other person is Japanese (whom he doesn't know).
Anyway, despite me wanting to put in my answer to his question, "anata no tomodachi ga daisuki desu. Sono suki na otoko no hito no namae wa Eiji desu." (I (am in) love (with) your friend. That favourite guy's name is Eiji) I didn't. I put instead "Booihurendo wa imasen kara deeto mo arimasen yo" (I don't have a boyfriend so i also don't have a date) Which really cracked him up =P wuahahahhaha... Well at least he gets comic relief sitting with me for so long u know?!

3) Well i met someone i don't mind playing around with. And he's an expert in it too. So if i wanted just to mess around, apparently, i DO have a phone number to call. But i don't know. I'm an emotional wreck and i keep thinking that if i did mess around with him, it might help me not to get so dependent on others and also like get over my intimacy problem cause I know EXACTLY how the dude feels before i get into this you know... But on the flipside of the coin, i don't know if i'd like myself after if i did anything with him...... cause i DO like to think of myself as erm... pure? wuahahahahhaha (YEAH RIGHT ELAINE! FARRRRRRRRRRRRRRR FROM REALITY!)

4) can't i just ask Eiji out for dinner? food... anything... He's what i really want anyway, for now ;)... I mean... i don't want to be possesive anymore, i don't want to be desperate any more... maybe not even desperate..... cause it's not like i am fully wanting it (referring to #3)... I just think it can be fun and i'd like to experiment and hopefully get over a demon or two...... But u know... I'd rather have well........ Eiji... heh. *sigh*

whatever.

5) gonna overdose on Japanese soon. Mainichi takusan nihongo o benkyoo shimasu. And today i met Taku too... my OTHER japanese tutor WHILE i was with Ryota and he was saying that i didn't call him!!! urgh..... ok better call him tomorrow then and ask some questions... I DO NEED HELP but it's like i have so much problems with Japanese i don't even know where to start. it's like i want to learn so much more, there's so much more to learn and so much I WANT to know how to say. BUT YET, I know SO LITTLE, and EVEN THAT, the LITTLE i should know, I STILL DON'T GET IT!

*sigh*

ouh well....

one more day of Japanese, just one more day!

Lost in Translation

Asian Kung Fu Generation,

Nihon-go wa sukoshi sukoshi wakarimasu kedo ????????? ????????? no uta wa totemo totemo totemo suki desu. (Japanese i little little understand but Asian Kung Fu Generation's song i really really like) My friend is translating this mail for me from English to Japanese so
I really really really like your music and I think you are fucking brilliant (hahah masa I dont think I should say that! hahahahaha) Actually I do think you are incredibly brilliant and talented. Your older songs, Kimi Tsunagi Five M and before that are really really really powerful and full of energy. Every time I listen to it, makes me wish so so so very much that I could go for your concert. Songs like Rashinban and Rocket No. 4 and Jihei Tansaku, Mirai no Kakera, Haruka Kanata really really makes me go Wow!!!! and wish I could be in a concert and rocking out with your songs! That was why I actually wanted to arrange a concert and a tour for you in America because I think you have the potential. I think your songs are really cool and very awesome enough for people over here to like it. I am waiting for them to show the rest of the anime Full Metal Alchemist on TV so that people can listen to your songs and be interested in the band further. I think if people gave you a chance and tried AKG out, they would love it. Thats what I feel.
Anyway your latest album Sorufa and your newer songs are very very beautiful. These new songs make me feel very painful in my heart because I cannot understand Japanese to understand what youre singing!!!! But the music is really beautiful though and it really makes me wish I could understand Japanese so that I can understand the full meaning of the songs. Songs like Mayonaka to Mahiru no Yume, Kaigan Dori, Mai Waarudo, Rasuto Shiin, really moves me a lot and really touches my heart and makes me go ahhhhh!!!!!!!! I wish I could understand what hes singing!!!!!! I wish I could sing along!!!!!! Arghhhhhhhhhhh!!! Why cant I understand Japanese!!!???? Doesnt it??? Its so very beautiful. Ahhh..
Loop and Loop, Kimi no machi made, Kimi to iu Hana, are so catchy and addictive too! Sometimes I can really play your songs the whole night and not be bored! Kimi no Machi Made is really brilliant I tell you! Actually, all of the songs are! Ok ok I think I am going overboard. Sorry. (the song is playing now thats why it makes me say it!)
Anyway, I really hope that I would be able to see you live one day. I think it would be awesome. I am sorry I dont think I can get to arrange for the concert and tour for you over here although I will still continue trying. But I hope actually, and WANT TO go to Japan during my holidays next year in MARCH 26-28 to go for your concert!!! Wouldnt that be awesome????? I will see, if I dont have Visa problems, I will definitely go! Hehe if I have the money too!

Anyway, I just wanted to say that your music is awesome and it really touches my heart and moves me to want to do something for you because I think that more people should hear something so wonderful. But anyways, keep up the great work, and I hope youre having fun =)

Take care.
